Goal

Our goal is to provide opportunities in a professional theater setting and to provide first class theatre at reasonable prices. Our vision is to promote dramatic arts as an essential element in the cultural lives of those in our surrounding communities.

MISSION STATEMENT

TAC at the Lake is a small, education-based, non-profit community theatre located in Liberty Lake, Washington. We are committed to providing culturally enriching entertainment for all ages from Coeur d'Alene to Cheney. The center is designed to allow theatre newcomers the opportunity to learn about and participate in local theatre, while also challenging theatre veterans to achieve more and to teach those with less experience. TAC at the Lake is focused on giving everyone an opportunity to be involved in community theatre.

TAC at the Lake is committed to….

• Providing opportunities to learn all aspects of theatrical production to include acting, singing, dancing, choreography, set design, stage managing, and lights/sound. In addition to regular plays and musical offerings, TAC at the Lake offers “Box” shows for teenage actors. These “Box” shows are more challenging and often have more mature themes.

• Providing opportunities for actors with little to no previous experience to be cast in a show. As a starter theatre, TAC at the Lake believes it is important to include both experienced and new talent in every production. Directors are encouraged to cast at least 30% of the roles in each show with talent who is either brand new to theatre or new to our theatre, specifically.

• Providing an inclusive and welcoming environment. TAC at the Lake does not discriminate on the basis of gender identity, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, age or abilities.

• Providing affordable opportunities to participate in productions. Although the theatre does collect a small fee to be in productions to cover the costs of licensing, production team, and costumes, no actor will be denied participation because of inability to pay.

BOARD STATEMENT ON SAFETY & INCLUSIVITY:

TAC at the Lake firmly believes that theatre should always be a safe and welcoming place for all. We, the Board of Directors, want to share how we have taken important steps to further protect those who come to us to create art. As we have always done, we will require background checks for any adult (employee, volunteer, cast or crew) working on a production involving children. We are expanding this to include even parents who volunteer in our green room. In fact, as board members we regularly submit to biennial background checks as well.

As a group, we have engaged in important conversations that resulted in us updating protocols and procedures regarding the reporting of any suspicious or uncomfortable incidents. The board will immediately investigate any activities that are brought to our attention and act accordingly. We have codified language in our instructions to directors and other adults working for us about the prompt reporting of uncomfortable behaviors. We have also taken this opportunity to update our mission statement to reinforce our commitment to diversity and inclusion. We have changed our audition forms to include non-binary gender identities and will respect preferred personal pronouns.

As a board, we are humbled that you trust us to provide a safe environment – a charge we take very seriously. Should you have any specific questions or concerns, please reach out.
